The holidays are back! Between meal planning, home projects, and getting the kids through school, it’s time to start thinking about the most challenging task: preparing the guest rooms for your holiday guests.
It may be used as storage, but it doesn’t need hours to make it ready for guests. Today I will show you how to organize your guest room to be prepared for use whenever you need it.
1. Additional towels, blankets, and pillows
Everyone has different needs. Different people prefer diverse body and face towels. Some people always feel cold. Some people are always warm. These extras will ensure comfort no matter how much you like or dislike. These items can be stored in cabinets or closets. Roll them up and place them on the floor or bed in baskets.
2. Wastebasket
Your guests shouldn’t be left wondering where to store their baggage stickers, airline tickets stubs, or potato chip wrappers after a long day of travel. This simple must-have will help you avoid clutter in your home (and their pockets)
3. Clock
Although most people have a cellphone, keeping a working clock handy is still a good idea. Your guests can turn off their phones and use the alarm clock on their bedside tables. They may want to know the time throughout their day to turn off their phones. A working clock is just as important as a watch and should be found in every room. Phone fatigue is genuine!
4. There is plenty of space for clothes
Your guest room can be used as a storage area for things you don’t have space for elsewhere. When guests are expected to stay, make sure you have enough space for them to store their bags and clothes. Don’t forget to add a few hangers. For guests visiting your home for a few days, make sure you keep at least two drawers open in your dresser.
5. Door hooks, either door-mounted or over-the-door,
These are the best way to store jackets, purses, and caps. Themes are beneficial if you have a small space and don’t have enough room for chairs, often where things end up being thrown.
6. Iron
This is an essential item that is often forgotten. Your guests will likely have wrinkled clothes from their travels. So it’s a good idea to take care of their needs before they ask. You can also add iron and an ironing board to your guest room supply list. You can either get an ironing board over the door or a tabletop board that can be used on the floor, bed or low dresser if you have limited space.
7. Tissues
It’s frustrating to have to use strands of paper for a substitute, and I don’t know how often guest rooms have been without them. A Kleenex box is always appreciated, especially in winter and allergy seasons.
8. Basic toiletries
Your guests may bring their toiletries, but it is not unreasonable to expect them to get the essentials. Ensure they have soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and soap in their bathroom. A small decorative basket can store them and include a note of welcome.
9. Full-length mirror
When applying makeup or other accessories, a dresser mirror is a great tool. Who doesn’t like to see their entire outfit before they go? You can either add a full-length mirror on one side of the wall or place it behind your closet or room door. Standing mirrors can also be used as decorative pieces if you have enough space.
10. Hairdryer
Although a hairdryer can be essential for many people, it is not something that everyone should carry. They can take up too much space in a suitcase or carry-on and cause problems with your luggage. You can keep one in a drawer or your bathroom.
Although it may seem overwhelming, once you have these items in place, your guest room will be ready for guests the next time they visit. The bad news is? The bad news? Your guests might not be satisfied if you provide these amenities well.
