Have you ever wondered how to make your bedroom look like a hotel?
A stay at a luxurious hotel is a treat for everyone. There are so many things to love about Egyptian cotton sheets and fluffy bathrobes, as well as a bed with mountains of pillows that you can curl up into. The novelty of wearing branded slippers is impressive. They have lights that turn on when you open the wardrobe, and the bathroom has clean grout. These hotel experiences are not cheap, so I limit my stay to one night for a milestone birthday.
1. DESSERT THE BED
The bed is, without doubt, the most crucial part of any luxury hotel room. The bed is usually vast and comfortable with goose down pillows and a handmade mattress.
These are great investments if you have the money. However, if you don’t have much money, you can still add luxury touches to your home with pillows, throws and cushions. White bedding is the best. White bedding creates a feeling of purity and is timeless. It will also complement any design. White Company offers a wide range of bedding with different textures and details.
To create a relaxing and luxurious feel, layer your bed with pillows and throw in various tones.
2. CREATE AMBIENT LUMINATION
The atmosphere in hotel rooms is everything. It sets the mood for dining, drinking, and finally falling asleep on those beautiful pillows. You won’t find a luxurious hotel room with a single pendant ceiling light. That will not get you in the right mood. The ideal hotel lighting is romantic, soft, and ambient. This lighting is achieved using lights of varying heights, such as floor lamps, table lamps, and wall lights. Shades are the best lamps because they diffuse light softly. They also create the magical glow of LED lights. You can use them for architectural highlights or shelving if you have the funds. However, avoid the colour changing varieties.
3. CHOOSE A RELATED COLOUR SCHEME
I would recommend going neutral or dark. They create a relaxing, soft atmosphere. They are sophisticated, elegant, and easy to live in. Darks feel warm, cosy and intimate. If you are unsure of the correct colour, greens and blues work well. Avoid red, yellow, and orange as they can stimulate and agitate. Stick to calm colours that promote tranquillity and peace.
4. CONSIDER CURTAINS AND CARPETS
While I love hardwood flooring, carpet is a must if you want to give your room that boutique feels. The atmosphere in a room can be affected by the flooring. Deep carpeting is an excellent choice for creating calm and stillness. You can also get the most oversized rugs that you can afford, or ask your local carpet shop to edge large pieces for you. This will give you the feeling of having a carpet without the expense.
The window dressing is the same. Curtains are better than shutters or blinds. The better, the heavier and more luxurious.
5. CHOOSE UNIQUE, FREESTANDING FURNITURE
Fitted furniture is more expensive than freestanding, and I prefer it to be fitted. While fitted furniture is excellent for maximizing space, it can feel dull and boxy.
Try to find pieces compatible with each other but not from the same range. This makes it feel more individual and elegant. While it is acceptable to match bedside cabinets, you should try to find a chest of drawers or wardrobe that is similar but not identical. This can be not easy to do, but it is possible. All you have to do is ensure that the pieces share common elements.
6. SYMMETRY EVERYWHERE
While we’re on the subject of bedside tables: Hotels must maintain symmetry in how they arrange furniture and style accessories. Symmetry is a way to create a sense of both formality and balance. This is what we’re trying to achieve here.
7. CHAIRS & OTTOMANS
These are classic hotel bedroom pieces that you should invest in if you have the space. Both are great for hanging your clothes and can be used to sit on your bed when you take off your shoes. They look great in rich fabrics such as velvet and linen.
8. CONCEAL THE TELEVISION
It’s best not to have one. If you have one, try not to make any feature that stands out. All the secrets to hiding your TV can be found here. I recommend keeping your TV hidden in the hotel and blending it into the decor.
9. CULL THE CLUTTER
A hotel room has many joys. You can open the wardrobe and not have old clothes fall on you. Or, you can lie in bed knowing that there are no Christmas decorations under your bed. It’s easy to forget to get rid of clutter, but it can be challenging to do. Get organized in your storage space. Even if you don’t see it, you will know that chaos lurks behind cupboard doors. Marie Kondo is an excellent resource for anyone who struggles with decluttering. She has a simple system that can be followed, and it will transform your life.
10. STYLE YOUR SURFACES
You can make biscuits and kettles look amazing in hotels. So get your styling skills out to achieve that hotel look. Here’s how you can do it. You need to group items in a way that makes them look nice. Make sure you have texture, varying heights, and that they all have something in common. Homesense has a great selection of cheap trays. You can group smaller items with a tray to look neat and not scattered around.
11. THINK ABOUT YOUR TOUCHPOINTS
Luxury is not about the appearance of a product but how it feels. Consider everything that touches the space to get the highest quality. It is essential to consider things like door handles and light switches. Carpets and curtains are a great choice because of this. Although it feels great to open a thick, velvet curtain with a dramatic sound, repetitively pulling on a metal blind winder is not pleasant.
12. Keep IT Clean
It is so apparent, but it can be easy to forget about in the daily grind of life. You want your bedroom to feel like a boutique hotel. Make sure surfaces are clean and free from dust and make sure to vacuum lampshades and wash down woodwork. It would be best if you also considered cleaning under the bed once in a while. It will make your space look and feel much better, even though it is a lot.
These are my top tips. Are you ready to redesign your bedroom? If you need any assistance with your project, I will help.
